Cancelled for 2020, see you in 2021

SAdly cancelled after 33 years

2020 event has been cancelled so we will all have to tuck under and begin preparing for next year.  Hopefully by then we will have administrative and medical changes making it all possible. While this is sad its just an opportunity to get our planning underway for the following year to come back better than ever. Bring something that will make it enjoyable for everyone. OutsideCon is only as good as the people that attend. That means you! See you in 2021!
Please take a moment to re-look at the items on the first page. All items in a dark gold color are new and thus deserve your consideration. Especially the part about needing volunteers to help with cleanup. We have a narrow window on Sunday to get it all done and Bob just can't do it all. He's not 20 anymore.

I was searching for lists to help me remember what to bring.

This site had a few helpful hints.

OutsideCon Woops

Well, it was bound to happen. One year the rule of 2nd full weekend would meet an exception to the rule... OutsideCon 31 will take place on the 1st full weekend or 9/7 thru 9/9. Please pardon our error. From now on, please mark calendar as "the weekend that follows DragonCon" or "The weekend after Labor Day." Its the same thing.

Recovery

So Sunday was rough, but so was Monday morning. Checkout was by 10 am, which was not what I was expecting. Bob used a mop to personally clean out the new bathrooms near the field house and that was after he mopped the kitchen 2 or 3x.

We had a couple of stragglers, but they were armed with information, so I presume they made their way out of there on time. I left by 9:30 or so and made it home eventually to nap the day away, and prepare for the regular routine-Kids, job, life.

Something Bob said which we should note is that there were smoke-like odors inside a cabin area. We will not ask Bob what kind of smoke it was, but I will say, please, INSIDE the cabins, no smoking. We need not have the park crew come down on us.

Other than that, I'd say that the food, the company, the entertainment, the usual was good. Thanks for making this year a success and memorable.

Just a week away

Wow, its a countdown now. After the revelry of DragonCon that some have or their Labor Day weekends, it will be good to have some down time.  There is not grand meal Thursday night but some of us do head that way to enjoy each other's company. Friday night is always soup night with a grand bowl of Chili or, if you prefer this is always an alternate. Plus deserts and drinks.

Saturday night is what those who have had exposure to the SCA call Feast night where they close the kitchen doors and a line forms of all the people who are hungry. Entertainment (this year there will be fun and games, as usual, as I will do special fun this 30th year) and Awards occur in the middle of the food, after most have gone for their 1st choices.

Sunday night if you are a lingerer and stay with some of us, then you can enjoy helping in the clean up. IF you clean up with the rest of us (and only IF you have) then you can enjoy the dead-dog party, wherein we go to eat with Robert at some local restaurant. (Dickson is a stone's throw away).

Please be safe getting there (we want to see you arrive alive) and be safe going back!

I personally look forward to seeing you all when you come.

P.s. 30th year deserves a little swag...  (waggles eyebrows) (first 150 customers) (Must buy membership to be eligible)

A nod to Dutch

Dutch Stacy, friend of Robert Embler for years kept OutsideCon's website going. He turned over the keys to the kingdom as of December and look at us slackers. :) Well, I finally got this part going and not without considerable help from all of you. I am still getting new pics by the hour and Bob admits to having quite a few legacy photos he can share but only shared about 20 for this first go.

Dutch has for years given us two main events at the large pavilion and nominally it was in support of both Hallowcon (now headed by Joe McKeel) and FantisciCon. The Late Night Double Feature Picture Show, AND The music Party with the Molly's playing their hearts out.

IF Dutch and Mickey attend this year it will be as honored guests who are just out to have a good time and relax. If you see them, pat them on the back. Tell 'em thanks from all of us.
